If an instructor believes the accommodation violates an essential function or learning outcome, they must contact the DRC with an explanation of how the accommodation alters an essential aspect of the course. If the DRC determines that the accommodation does violate an essential function, the DRC will work with the student and faculty member to determine if there is an alternative accommodation that would mitigate the impact of the disability without fundamentally altering the course or program.
